About Tafelberg School & PTA

Tafelberg School is a public remedial school based in Bothasig, Cape Town, dedicated to supporting learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD). The school provides specialised education for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12, welcoming students from across the Cape Peninsula and from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

With a strong focus on individual development, Tafelberg School offers a supportive learning environment where academic learning is complemented by therapeutic support, helping learners build confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.

The Tafelberg Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays an active role in supporting the school community through fundraising events and community initiatives. These events help raise essential funds to improve school facilities, resources, and opportunities for learners.

Recent PTA fundraising efforts have supported the development of the Foundation Phase Playground, an important space used not only for play but also by the school’s therapy staff to support learners’ developmental needs. Ongoing fundraising aims to further enhance this area by installing shade structures, additional seating, and learner-friendly outdoor spaces to ensure it can be used comfortably throughout the year.

Throughout the year, the PTA hosts a variety of community and school events, bringing together families, supporters, and local businesses to celebrate the school while raising funds that directly benefit the learners.

By attending a Tafelberg PTA event, you are not only enjoying a meaningful community experience — you are also helping create better opportunities and supportive spaces for learners who learn differently.

Together, we make a difference in every learner’s journey.

"Wow, what a day of connecting, sharing and learning! The food and refreshments where fresh and tasty catering was on point for all food needs. The goodie bags had such great spoils and sooo many prizes to be won!! Not to mention a wonderful neck massage. The hall was beautifully decorated and even the centre piece of our table was edible at the end we got to cut it and take home cake!! This school really knows how to host of a classy event at scale, and pulled off by volunteering parents and some of the high school kids from this amazing school ! I am so glad I got to go this year as I missed last year. Looking forward to the next. "

"It was a very lovely and well organized event and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, Just a few small ?? was the queue for having my hands pampered by the Sh'zen ladies took forever. The music was ok, could have been better maybe more "women/motherly related" tunes. The decor was not giving me a mother's day feeling at all. Some beautiful flowers instead of the balloons as a centre piece would attract my attention. Also the tables could have some chips/sweets/nuts to snack on. As this was a debut Mother's Day event I am confident that the organizers will definitely improve next year "

"A great event hosted by Tafelberg. The students assisting at the tables were a great addition this year, and the individual plating was a huge improvement. Unfortunately there was still people cramming the scones served at the beginning with tea and coffee, still leaving the people at the end of the queue empty handed. I know there was enough, but the behaviour of some continues to spoil it for all. Would like to have seen more vendors, but the prizes and lucky draws were awesome this year. Well done to all involved and a big thank you to Tessa’s bakery."
