About

Cape Town Stitch to Resist

Cape Town Stitch to Resist (CTS2R) is a community-based non-profit collective using hand stitching, storytelling, and solidarity to resist oppression, reclaim heritage, and support collective healing.

Founded in 2023 through a response to artist Elian Elias-Aboudi’s global call, CTS2R began with 14 women creating Tatreez works as acts of grief, protest, and prayer.

Today, the collective uses stitching as a practice of remembrance, resistance, and social change, amplifying marginalized voices and standing in solidarity with Palestine and other oppressed communities.

Through workshops and collaborative art, CTS2R connects heritage, craft, and social justice.
