Join Cape Town Stitch to Resist for a gentle and meaningful morning of community stitching as we learn the traditional Palestinian embroidery technique known as Tatreez.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn the basics of Tatreez cross-stitch and it’s history while creating a handmade embroidered bookmark. Tatreez has been practiced for generations as a way of expressing identity, preserving cultural memory, and telling stories through thread and cloth.

This workshop introduces Tatreez as both a craft and a cultural practice. Together we will explore how handcraft can become a quiet act of solidarity, connection, and cultural preservation. Participants will begin stitching their bookmarks during the session and receive guidance on how to complete their piece at home.

No previous embroidery experience is needed.
