The Improv Cart

Based in Cape Town, The Improv Cart has been bringing unscripted comedy and creativity to SA since 2020. Founded by Justine Beukes, Thomas Dods and Tamith Hattingh, we run classes, workshops and shows that push improv in bold new directions. Our mission? Grow the local community, level up performers of all skill levels, and share the magic of improv with anyone willing to play—whether that’s individuals, communities or companies.

What is Improv?

Improv is live theatre without a script. Everything—characters, dialogue, story—gets created in the moment, right in front of you. It’s equal parts unscripted theatre and team sport, fuelled by creativity, collaboration and a big dose of playful spontaneity. In other words: it’s theatre that’s never the same twice.
