About

Established in 1993 by Dr Douw Greeff, The Centurion Theatre has been a cornerstone of the performing arts in Gauteng for more than 30 years. Known for its intimate atmosphere, professional productions, and welcoming spirit, it remains the beating heart of Centurion’s artistic community.

In 2021, a passionate new management team took up the torch to build on this legacy—transforming the theatre into a vibrant creative ecosystem where art, education, and community meet. Today, The Centurion Theatre proudly includes:

Scenario Productions – our in-house production company, creating world-class immersive musicals, children’s theatre, and original South African works.

Scenario College for Performing Arts & Enterprise – an accredited performing arts college that nurtures and trains the next generation of theatre professionals through practical, industry-based education.

The Workshop – our fully equipped set, props, and costume workshop supporting professional productions, schools, and artists with creative, affordable solutions for stage design and technical excellence.

The Rehearsal Room Café & Eatery – our on-site restaurant, offering guests a cozy space to enjoy delicious meals, great coffee, and local wines before or after a show.

Our mission is simple: to provide a space where people can connect, be inspired, and be entertained. Through collaboration with our artists, students, and community, The Centurion Theatre continues to bring stories to life—celebrating creativity, connection, and the enduring power of live performance.

"What an amazing evening , venue as well as the show. The platter and drinks we ordered was up to standard and enjoyable and staff were very welcoming and friendly. I read the book two years ago and it was a privilage to see someone as talented and legendary as Sandra Prinsloo bring the book alive and give such a true emotional heartfelt performance even though she's done it so many times before. Sitting on the balcony( left side looking onto the stage) was a bit of a nuisance not to be able to see when she was performing on the left side of the stage and I have mixed feelings about people being allowed to bring drinks into the theatre while the show is on. On the one hand it creates an easy and not stiff enviroment but on the other hand it was irritating if someone opened something and threw it into a glass and being distracting. Maybe if it was a comedy or music show it wouldn't have bothered me but given the intensity of the show it was distracting to me, but that's my personal take on it. I still had a most enjoyable evening and would definately go back to see other shows as well!"

"I don't even have 1 complaint. The event went so smoothly from start to finish thx to the amazing people from Centurion theater. They were very professional, super efficient and very pro-active every step of the way. It was stress free and easy and Tiaan and Lian definitely went the extra mile. Thank you. "

"It was an awesome show - the sound was great - the service/food at the restaurant was great. The ticket price was great, it could even have been a wee bit more as it was for such a great cause too :) "
