About Transept:

In our media saturated world, the arts have become, for many, a space to engage questions of meaning, purpose and existence. As artists with Christian convictions we want to invite viewers to reflect on these questions in the light of the Gospel.

We believe that Transept will have a timely word to speak to the economic uncertainty and spiritual confusion witnessed in our world during the last 18 months. The new Christ Church Somerset West building, designed by acclaimed South African architect Jo Noero was the impetus for this project. We have invited a group of talented artists to respond to the design of this remarkable space. Through architecture and installation art, we hope to communicate a sense of the divine order, beauty and peace which grounds our Christian hope. The exhibition will also form the backdrop to a series of musical performances, public talks and Sunday worship services.

This Saturday get together for artists will include a series of talks, artist presentations and workshops at the church. A full programme will be made available soon.
