FUNDRAISER FOR SCHOOL FEES

I hope you are well and safe.

It is with a heavy heart that I ask for help covering the school fees for my two children, Xander (8) and Xean (5). While I am employed, my husband, an experienced builder and contractor, has been struggling to find permanent employment over the past few years; the introduction of Covid-19 and lockdown measures has also increased his difficulty in securing income. Like many others I’m sure, we currently find ourselves juggling the financial responsibilities between our housing, food expenses, utilities, debt and school fees. At this point we are just not able to cover all of our expenses on just one salary, but our children’s school fees are our priority now. We do not have the funds to pay the outstanding debt we owe for school fees at all.

We do however find it heartening that our two boys come home from school with smiles on their faces. The love and care they receive at their school, their educators and their friends are the only things that they can be excited about. Unfortunately, I am not able, nor do I have the knowledge and training of an educator, to provide my sons with the consistent academic input, attention and feedback they need. It is of the utmost importance to us that our children continue their schooling in an environment that aims at promoting and developing their learning skills, but also secures their social and emotional wellness. From the smiles on our sons’ faces when returning home from school, it is clear to us that their school exceeds in this aspect. Our children are stable and happy and as parents we try our best to keep it this way.

Our school fees for both Xander and Xean are in arrears. In 2020, we managed to make a temporary arrangement with the school to make up these payments, but we were not even financially able to keep to this arrangement. This has now escalated to legal action being taken. The school has, understandably, no other choice than to hand us over to their attorneys for the collection of the outstanding balance.

At this point we will be forced to take our children out of the school. I cannot imagine telling them that they will not be able to attend their school any longer, being stuck and frustrated at home and exposed to all the stress we as parents have to try and resolve.

Our current financial situation has been and is still very stressful for me; I cannot cope with the prospect of having my children removed from school.

With little to no social support network, all I can do at this point is to ask for your help so that my children will be able to stay in school, where they are safe and emotionally and physically healthy and happy. I am asking if anyone is willing to assist, even with the smallest amount possible, to help me keep my kids in school please.

The amount currently owed to the school is R 23,015.00. This includes the school fees that we are behind on in 2020 up to date in March 2021. We simply do not have the funds to cover this amount.

We are desperate (and embarrassed) and need your help in any way possible, please! We’ve already lost so much and cannot afford to have our children lose their education too.
