The #GiveHerACrown - #CrownFund Campaign
We aim to lead the change for women in South Africa. We aim to #ReclaimOurStory.
#GiveHerACrown believes that the fight against Gender Based Violence starts in schools.
Gender discrimination which, simply put, is any unequal treatment, including privilege and priority, on the basis gender has been shown to start in childhood.
Our #Crownfund campaign aims to impact schools across South Africa by providing a transformative educational programme that will train and empower teachers to champion gender equality with their students. The educational content will be co-created with an organisation that specialises in Art Education, which will use the power of creativity and storytelling in order to drive empathy and behavioural change.
Empowering girls from the start is proven to have lasting and compounding benefits over the course of their lives. Your contribution will have a lifelong impact and change the trajectory of women in South Africa.
More About Us:
#GiveHerACrown is a female empowerment platform that exists to change the narrative for women in South Africa. We #ReclaimOurStory through the power of storytelling and the arts.
The initiative’s key touch-points include:
• Storytelling: We tell the stories of all women; the survivors, the activists, the influencers, the pioneers, and the next generation.
• Virtual crown: The public is invited to #GiveHerACrown and share stories of women in their lives by giving them a digital crown. We will also celebrate the stories of 50 x influential South African women by giving them a crown and telling their stories from October onwards.
• Song: Our campaign ambassador, Zolani Mahola was inspired by the campaign and composed and recorded a new song especially for the campaign called: "Remember Who You Are)
• Crowns of art: Various local artists will create bespoke crowns of art using their material of choice, from wood to wire, lace to fabric, steel to ceramics and more. These crowns will be auctioned off during SA's 16 Days of Activism which takes place 25 November to 10 December 2020. All the proceeds of these crowns will also go towards the #CrownFund.
