ABOUT

Our Winter Concert Series, "For the Connoisseur", continues with a concert alongside the Horizons Choir Project from Pretoria.

The Horizons choir was formed in 2014 to perform and promote compositions by young South African composers. Their mission is not only to give voice to those composers’ work but also to inspire a new generation of composers to compose for choir. They have two projects every year and combine concerts with workshops where the composers whose works they perform, discuss those works. The choir consists of 24 singers who are passionate about choral singing. For their current project they submitted 25 new compositions to a panel consisting of Hendrik Hofmeyr (UCT), Charlotte Botha (Drakensberg Boys Choir), Christo Burger (Akkustika), Jeanmari van Papendorf (Pretoria) and Nikolette Popova (Canary Islands) and the following songs were selected:
