About

Founded in 1997 under the name Pro Cantu, the Cape Town Youth Choir aims to provide an opportunity for young South Africans to sing in a choir of the highest international standards while delivering a moving musical experience to its audiences.

We are based in Cape Town and currently rehearse twice a week at Jan van Riebeeck High School. Membership is by audition only and is open to all choir geeks older than 18 and (preferably) younger than 35.

"What a magnificent and rich performance of a wide variety of songs. The acoustics in this venue are perfect. I am going to the repeat performance. "

"Mind blowing. It was such an amazing concert. Literally sent chills throughout my body and I had goosebumps the entire concert. Both choirs - The University of Louisville and CTyC were absolutely amazing. I was very much impressed by the talented choir members and their ability to sing such varied range of melodies together in symphony. The concert as a whole demonstrated the vocal capabilities and potential of these young individuals. I will most certainly attend every CTyC Choir concert and event. Thank you for this lovely evening. "

"This choir is always a joy to watch. Leon Starker is both an excellent conductor and a charming host. The rapport between him and the choir is palpable and is part of what makes watching the CTYC such a deep pleasure, beyond the programme itself. "

"Could have bern slightly shorter. But fabulous. "
