TALK TITLE:
Storyboarding tips and tricks: A hands on workshop.
OUTLINE:
In this 3 hour workshop, Daniel will take participants though a number of techniques for storyboarding which can be applied to animation, comics, graphic storytelling.
The first hour will focus will be on how composition and staging within a frame affects the audience's experience of an image, and how a storyteller can use these simple ideas to enhance their ability to communicate. Daniel will use examples from his own work, as well as animated and live action films to illustrate these ideas. In the second and third hour, Daniel will give the audience an exercise to story board, and then spend time doing one on one consultations to try and help people understand the principals covered in the talk.
Materials will be provided.
Target audience: High school, college students, and entry level professionals.
DURATION: 3 hours
PRICE: R450 / R250 (STUDENTS)
BIO:
Daniel Snaddon is currently working as co-director at Triggerfish Animation on "Stick Man" for Magic Light Pictures and the BBC. Previously Daniel has worked on Khumba as a story-artist and animation lead, and as an independent director for the advertising industry, as well as a storyboard artist for Strikas Entertainment. He is has been an active member of the animation community, and founded and served as director of the Kunjanimation Animation Festival for the past 3 years. Daniel has attended the Gobelins Summer School in Paris in 2010, and was educated at Griffith University in Australia were he received a BA
in classical animation.
