ABOUT
Odwa Bongo - singer, songwriter, composer, and performer - is a solo artist inspired by classical music, African music, and Jazz. His music is experimental with a dominating African rooted sound. It is an experiment of soul feeding sounds, best described as avantgarde.
He was classically trained at the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School. In 2010 he was received “The Best Tenor Soloist” Award and chosen to represent South Africa in South Korea as a member of the choir. In 2012 Odwa was introduced to Jazz and in the same year he participated as the School's Big Band vocalist at the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival in Grahamstown.
In 2014 he attended The Rainbow Academy and was awarded the “Best Student of the Year” Award in music and top student in his class. His single 'Confused' was chosen as the BEST SUBMISSION in 2017 and last year Odwa achieved his Advanced Performance Diploma in African Music at the University of Cape Town in 2018.
