ABOUT

MUSIC EXCHANGE (#MEX18), South Africa’s only entertainment-economy-focused conference, returns to Cape Town for the eighth time from 1 to 2 September 2018!

With MUSIC EXCHANGE well and established and respected – thanks to incredible support from some of the world’s biggest names in production, song writing, composition, management, PR, digital strategy and live performance – MEX18 is excited to announce more of the same in the build up to its biggest weekend yet.

Martin Myers, founder and convenor of the conference, remarked, “This year MEX is delighted to have the key decision makers of some of the most important music bodies in South Africa attending, including RISA and SAMRO.”

Thanks to extraordinary partnerships and key relationships, MEX18 also welcomes Abbey Rd Studio’s CHRISTIAN WRIGHT to the fold. Christian’s mastered many award-winning Number One albums for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, and Gabrielle Aplin, along with soundtracks to movies (Gravity, Prince Of Persia, The Master) from both sides of the Atlantic.

Another exciting first-time inclusion to the line-up is Mahogany’s MARK MURDOCH. As the founder and owner of one of the world’s most exciting YouTube channels (Mahogany Sessions), Mark is a true digital native who mow curates multiple music platforms that boast more than 580 000 active subscribers.

Based in London, Mark will fly in to deliver one of this year’s keynote address, as well as host a rare masterclass. Not only will he unpack his journey in music over the past decade from Vodafone’s Omniphone music platform, through to supporting global brands in bridging the musical divide, he’ll share invaluable insights into his brand’s extraordinary and stratospheric success.

“I am honoured and equally excited to share and immerse myself in what’s coming out of South Africa,” Mark says. “It’s an incredibly exciting time for artists, producers, everyone who’s plugged into taking music to the world. Mahogany’s success is testament to that.”

Digital monetisation in the new music economy, through to masterclasses dedicated to key disciplines, MEX18 will once again offer it all.

With more speakers and events to be announced over the coming two weeks, in the build-up to MEX18, follow us on Facebook to get breaking announcements as they happen.

Whether you’re an established or ambitious young artist, publicist, producer, DJ, manager, venue owner, record label, agency or corporate brand looking to gain invaluable insight and learning’s every delegate can actively apply and benefit from, MEX18 is the creative hub responsible for bringing it all together.

MEX18 will be hosted at two amazing venues over two days.

The impressive Academy Of Sound Engineering studio complex, in District 6, as well as  Sun Square Cape Town Gardens situated in Mill Street over the jam-packed two-day imbizo.
