ABOUT
Sisonke Xonti, Live at Sankayi
Fresh off his uKholo album launch tour, with performances at Cape Town's Homecoming Theatre and Johannesburg's Market Theatre, saxophonist and composer Sisonke Xonti returns to Sankayi Jazz Room for an evening celebrating his music.
Born in Cape Town, Sisonke is a distinctive voice in contemporary South African jazz. His music draws on the country's rich jazz heritage while embracing contemporary influences and new directions. Having shared the stage with artists including Nduduzo Makhathini, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Tsoaeli, Salif Keita and Jimmy Dludlu, his latest album, uKholo, explores themes of faith, belonging and the experiences that shape our lives.
Join us for an evening celebrating Sisonke's compositions, musical journey and contribution to South African jazz, in the intimate setting of Sankayi Jazz Room.
