ABOUT
CAN YOUR GARDEN SURVIVE EL NIÑO?
Join us for the inaugural The Spring Affair – a celebration of beautiful gardens, good food, fine wine and HERMITAKE’s first birthday.
At the heart of the day is an El Niño Garden Masterclass with Arina Duvenhage, owner of Garden of Eden Garden School, exploring how to create healthier, more resilient gardens that are better equipped to cope with hot and dry conditions.
With years of experience in horticulture, soil health and growing, Arina will take the conversation back to what is happening beneath the surface. She’ll cover soil health and beneficial microbes, smarter watering, encouraging deeper root systems and creating shade, along with some everyday items from the kitchen that can be put to surprisingly good use in the garden.
Whether you have a sprawling country garden, vegetable patch, small courtyard or simply a collection of pots, the focus will be on ideas you can take home and put into practice.
MORE THAN A MASTERCLASS
Spend the rest of the day outdoors on the lawns at HERMITAKE, where a large Bedouin-style tent will be surrounded by a carefully curated collection of growers, nurseries, garden specialists, makers and lifestyle exhibitors.
Browse plants and seedlings, pots and planters, garden tools and equipment and outdoor pieces, alongside selected finds for the table, pantry and home. Exhibitors will be selling directly on the day, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to meet the people behind the products, ask questions and take a few finds home with you.
A light meal and refreshments are included in your ticket, while HERMITAKE wines and other drinks will be available to purchase separately throughout the day.
Attendance is limited to 100 guests.
