Mission Mito

Come for the run and stay for the fun!

Inspired by Unstoppable Emma, Mission Mito is aimed at starting SA's Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Movement. Mitochondrial Disease is a devastating, progressive, degenerative disease where the body loses it's ability to generate energy within the cells. This leads to many debilitating symptoms, organ involvement and can be life threatening. While statistics show that 1 in 5000 people have mitochondrial disease, it is still largely unheard of, with little support and resources for patients and families. We want to change that! There is currently no cure, and many patients don't survive. But with awareness comes knowledge, with knowledge come resources and with resources come research teams that can work towards a cure. We can be UNSTOPPABLE TOGETHER!

Choose between a 5km and 10km trail walk/run. Stay for the market, live entertainment, good food and kiddies fun! The market is FREE entry, you only pay to participate in the walk/run.

The run will not be a timed event and is all about community and raising awareness. Dress in GREEN to show your support - there will be prizes for best dressed!!

There will also be a lucky draw at 11:00 for run/walk participants, with some awesome prizes up for grabs.

Think green, think fun, think great vibes and cheerleaders along the way! All in an effort to put Mito on the map in SA, while creating hope and support for our local patients.
