The Brotherhood of the Great Hearts

The Sankayi Jazz Series presents The Brotherhood of Great Hearts, an ensemble bringing together some of South Africa's most compelling voices in contemporary jazz and creative music.

More than a band, The Brotherhood of Great Hearts is a collective that explores the rich traditions of South African jazz through original composition, improvisation, and collective musical expression. Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Black Consciousness and the pursuit of a more connected and compassionate society, the ensemble creates music that is thoughtful, adventurous, and deeply rooted in the South African experience.

Honouring the past while imagining new possibilities for the future, The Brotherhood of Great Hearts invites audiences into an evening of powerful storytelling, musical conversation, and artistic exploration.

Guests are encouraged to arrive from 18:00 to choose their preferred seating and enjoy dinner and drinks before the performance. Seating is allocated on a first come, first served basis. To ensure an uninterrupted concert experience, food and beverage service concludes at 19:30, with music beginning at 20:00.
