Winter in Watercolours

ABOUT

Beauty in nature is usually associated with Spring and Summer, when everything seems to be so green and plentiful, but Winter has its own charm with a variety of succulents and shrubs that are tough enough to deal with cold, frost and dry conditions.

The most dazzling display comes from the renowned Aloe as it proudly announces itself through its bright fluorescents to the highveld birds and insects as they look for food in the stark winter conditions. Wild Dagga (Leonotis Leonurus) is another contender for the Charm of Winter prize, and is particularly popular with sunbirds. These stunning plants will be the focus of our Winter in Watercolours Day with their striking reds and oranges.

This day is for absolutely anyone, of any age, who simply loves to draw, paint and be creative. We will guide you through a few watercolour techniques and provide the materials you need to explore. Sit and paint one of the still lives set up for inspiration or if the moment takes you, paint the landscape around you. The choice is yours. No pressure, no competition, just a love of nature and an opportunity to capture its beaty on paper in your own unique style.

If this is your idea of fun, then put Saturday the 25th of July in your diary. We start at 8h30 for 9h00 and finish at 13h00. Only 20 spaces are available so be sure to book now to secure your spot.

Tickets cost R250 per person and include all materials. Food and drinks will be available (for your own account) from the delicious menu of Die Doring Padstal who have kindly offered to host our event. Their address is 22 Gemstone Road (off the R511), Crocodile River Reserve.
