Saturday, 19 September 2026
The Amariders Rhino Ride forms part of Kenton Rhino Rising – A Kenton Weekend for Conservation.
Hosted by the Amariders Community Project, this inaugural event brings together cycling, conservation and community development in a unique Sunshine Coast experience.
Starting and finishing in Ekuphumleni, the ride celebrates the power of sport to connect people, create opportunities and showcase the communities that form an important part of our region's story.
Route Options
5 km Community Ride
The 5 km route takes riders through the Ekuphumleni community, combining gravel roads with short sections of tar. Designed to be accessible and family-friendly, it offers a relaxed introduction to the event and celebrates the community at the heart of the Amariders project.
10 km Community Ride
The 10 km route follows the same loop twice, providing a slightly longer challenge while remaining accessible to recreational riders and families.
50 km Lions Loop Ride
The 50 km route starts and finishes at Eco Sun Village in Ekuphumleni.
From there, riders head out along the R72, crossing the Kariega River Bridge before looping towards Southwell and returning via the iconic Lions Loop. The route showcases the area's scenic countryside, open roads and beautiful landscapes while maintaining a strong community connection at its core.

Why It Matters
The Amariders Rhino Ride is about more than cycling.
Hosted by the Amariders Community Project, this inaugural event uses sport to create opportunities, build confidence and connect communities.
By taking part, you're supporting both conservation and community development while helping grow grassroots cycling, tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities in the region.
More than a ride, this is an opportunity to experience a community-led event and support a project creating positive change through cycling.
The Amariders Rhino Ride is where community, conservation and cycling come together.
More Than a Ride
Participants are encouraged to make a weekend of it and explore the wider Kenton Rhino Rising programme, including the Kenton Rhino Run, River Swims with Awehness, Padel with Volo, conservation talks, community events and a special screening of The Last Ranger.
