Conflicting drives in Autism and ADHD in the same body

When a child is both autistic and ADHD, one part of the system seeks calm and predictability while the other seeks stimulation and novelty. This discussion explains how that internal conflict produces the day-to-day inconsistency parents see, and why a strategy that settles one side can unsettle the other.
