KORTFILMPROJEK – Opkomende filmmakers | SHORT FILM PROJECT – Rising Filmmakers
Die Silwerskermfees-kortfilmprojek bied opkomende filmmakers die geleentheid om kortfilms te ontwikkel en te vervaardig met die finansiële steun en mentorskap van die fees. Hierdie inisiatief het ’n lanseerplatform gebied aan talle nou bekende filmmakers om die bedryf te betree en hulself te vestig. Die projek het oor die afgelope paar jaar eksponensieel gegroei en het uitgebrei na verskeie kortfilmkategorieë.
The Silwerskerm Short Film Project grants rising filmmakers the opportunity to develop and produce short films with the financial backing and mentorship of the festival. This initiative has offered a platform to numerous now well-known filmmakers to enter and establish themselves in the industry. The project has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and has branched out into various short film categories.

In the quiet, fictional neighbourhood of Suville, Charlotte Grunewald lives according to a strict routine in her perfectly organised house, with her cat, Constantine, by her side. Everything has its place. Everything makes sense. Not even her lactose intolerance is a problem. But then the new milkman shows up: Ernest van den Burg – wide-eyed, decent, sincere and earnest. Slowly, he begins to disrupt Charlotte’s routine with inexplicable milk deliveries, despite her best efforts to ignore him. And Charlotte is confronted with her greatest fear: change. Because sometimes all it takes to turn everything on its head is a pushy but friendly stranger, a few bottles of milk and the odd slip-up here and there.

On the Cape Flats, dreams rise from every corner to the music pulsing through the streets. Keisha lives a double life: isolated by day under her mother’s watchful eye, and a DJ and rising star by night in the electrifying underground Yaadt scene her father once ruled. But when she uncovers the truth about his death, the music stops being an escape and becomes a reckoning. As beats and buried secrets collide, Keisha and her mother are forced to confront a past that could either break them or set them free.

A screenwriter struggles with a scene centred around gender-based violence. As he sits feverishly typing at his desk, the words begin to distort the reality around him. The word “Mother” on the page causes a woman to appear in the room; the word “Father,” a man to strike her. Spaces and places start collapsing into one another; light and time bend around the writer, and he finds himself confronted by a horrific moment that has haunted him for years.
