The Sankayi Jazz Series is a curated live music experience that brings some of South Africa’s leading jazz artists to an intimate, listening-focused setting.

Hosted at Sankayi Restaurant & Lounge, the series offers a space where music, atmosphere, and hospitality come together, creating a consistent home for jazz in Johannesburg.

A legendary figure in South African jazz, McCoy Mrubata is a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader whose career spans decades. From his early roots in Langa to international tours and multiple award-winning recordings, his music reflects the depth and evolution of South African jazz.

Doors open at 18:00, and guests are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy dinner before the performance.

Music begins at 20:00 and will be presented in two sets in a relaxed, seated environment.
