The Wild Crew @ Riverside Estate: Food from the Veld

Living in cities and having shopping malls around almost every corner we have forgotten the true origins of our food. We forget that to enjoy Nature’s bounty we are still reliant on the environment to provide us with the most basic of requirements to produce this bounty - soil, water, sun, seeds, dispersal and pollinators, just for starters.

We need to teach our children to reconnect with Nature and understand her importance in our lives. At this Wild Crew outing we will be taking the children into the veld to see what we can harvest directly from Nature. On their return they will make spekboom relish, perfume, insect repellent and household cleaner from plants and learn about responsible harvesting in the wild.
