Veteran journalist Marianne Thamm brings her new show “Would you Like Some Coffee with Your Coup?” to the Prince Albert Showroom on 18 April 2025.
Thamm’s Naledi award-winning first piece of comedy “performance journalism” “Round Of Applause - South Africa Still Standing” was performed over 100 times since it first saw light at the Baxter in 2023.
Since then, Brazilian Butt Lifts, Impalas and Blue Lights have entered the political discourse as the country prepares for local elections later in the year. The Zillenator is eyeing Johannesburg, the ANC is in ICU and the rest are in the dock.
July 2025 marked a turning point in South Africa’s history when General Nhlanhla Mkwanazi called a “bombshell” press conference dressed in combat fatigues.

Marianne Thamm has worked for 40 years as a journalist, author, satirist and comedy writer. Born in Pretoria she lives in Cape Town with her family and dogs.
