DISAKLOOF TABLE MOUNTAIN HIKE
This classic Table Mountain loop begins and ends at Constantia Nek, offering a rewarding journey through some of the mountain’s most historic and scenic terrain.
From the Constantia Nek car park, the route climbs steadily along the iconic Smuts Track toward Overseers Hut. As you gain elevation, expansive views open up over Constantia, Hout Bay, and the surrounding vineyards, making this one of the most visually rewarding ascents on the southern side of the mountain.
Passing Overseers Hut, the trail continues toward the high mountain reservoirs, crossing the dam wall with sweeping views of the plateau. The route then passes the historic Waterworks Museum, a quiet reminder of Cape Town’s early engineering and the vital role these mountains play in supplying water to the city below.
From here, the trail drops into the cool, shaded depths of Disa Kloof. This beautiful ravine is a highlight of the route, with indigenous forest, rocky pathways, and seasonal streams creating a tranquil, almost secluded atmosphere far removed from the city.
At the lower junction, the route turns into Nursery Ravine, beginning the final ascent back toward Constantia Nek. This historic ravine route winds its way uphill through forest and rocky sections, offering a satisfying climb and a strong sense of achievement as you emerge back onto the contour paths and return to the Constantia Nek car park.
