About

Distance For Difference (D4D), is a registered non-profit organisation which, since 2005, made a significant impact in the wellbeing of children in South Africa. D4D use sport to generate funds for distribution to various children's charities. This is done through individual athletes who find sponsors for every km they run, cycle or swim during a year, while training or participating in specific events, e.g. the Comrades Marathon, the Absa Cape Epic, IRONMAN, The Cape Town Cycle Tour, etc. Secondly, D4D hosts two fundraising events – The GRATITUDE Run (an annual event) and THE500 24hr-Cycling-and-Spinning-Challenge, which is held every second year. We also launched the Swim 4 HOPE and HIKE with Purpose fundraising brands in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Over the past twenty-one years, D4D raised and distributed more than R14 million. Some of our beneficiaries include Patch Helderberg, Kingdom Kids, Little Angels, Sylvia's House, Tzadokah Foster Home, Esther van Zyl, Gabriella Centre, Heartlands Baby Sanctuary, Kin Culture, just to name a few.

"Great event. Well organised. Fantastic setting"

"Beautiful route. The road was a bit slippery in the woods, so I would recommend trail running shoes. Fun experience and a lovely vibe!"

"Overall it was a delight to take part in the race. It was very well organised and the attention to detail, the creativity of the little sign boards with quotes was a nice touch and makes the race memorable. The second round of the 20km loop was a little difficult with all the walkers of the 5km fun walk on a single track, and it was a little demotivating to know you have the steep hill ahead and with all the walkers chatting all over the trail, I lost my will to continue a bit. With that said, if the same organisers ever do another race, I will take part again and definitely recommend it. I loved it."

"Phenomenal experience!! Only thing I would change is to mark the 20km trail & 10km trails in 2 different colours as well as race bibs.. I missed the last 500m due to confusion of my race bib"
