ABOUT

What draws us together and also keeps us apart?

Forever separate and yet inexplicably intertwined?

The invisible force made visible by art as object, and yet not the object itself. This mystery — moving between, within, and all around us, resisting any easy surrender of its meaning.

"To Love the Wind" is a music, storytelling, and light-show experience held in the Bijou Amphitheatre as part of the December Open Studios programme.

This multi-cultural performance weaves together art, music, and story through a dynamic animated light show created with Bijou art residents. Spoken word interlaces the themes behind each artwork, while original songs carry the narrative forward.

The result is a multi-sensory delight — an immersive storybook you can step into. Together, the artists explore creativity as an invisible force that becomes briefly visible through art, even as it remains something larger, more mysterious, and more alive than the object itself.

Tanika Paschke-Moloi, an emerging singer-songwriter who creates monthly music and storytelling experiences across Cape Town, leads this collaboration. She is joined by the Spiritual Jazz ensemble Uthiomkumbulu, offering a powerful blend of poetry, improvisation, and music.

The animated light show is crafted and projected by local motion-design artist Alistair Campbell.

This performance forms part of the Bijou Open Studios — December Programme.

Tickets: R280 pp.

Studio visits and complimentary wine are included.

Show starts at 8:00 PM.

Please note: The event is weather-dependent. Should conditions not allow for an outdoor performance, it will be moved indoors, or tickets may be refunded upon request.
