BARRYDALE IN BLOOM 2026

Join us for a fun and exciting Klein Karoo weekend getaway from 6 to 8 November 2026 during Barrydale's annual charity fundraising event where the community comes together to showcase its diverse gardens to raise money for Barrydale Hospice and beautify our village.

VENUE

The main festivities take place at Môreson farm at the beginning of Van Riebeeck Street. Our festive long table dinner on Friday evening (18:00 till 10:00) will start the festivities of the weekend, with the bustling festival market with local art, crafts, plant and food stalls, tea garden and music on Saturday (09:00 till 15:30). The farm will also be the venue for inspiring talks and workshops on Saturday. As part of Barrydale in Bloom we host an agricultural day on farming with olives on Friday (09:00 - 13:00) in the Belanti at the Karoo Art Hotel.

Extend your visit to our magical town and explore our incredible valley for award winning producers of your favourite tipple – Joubert Tradauw Vineyards, Metanoia Gin, Makers Brew craft beers and Joseph Barry Brandy Distillery.

LONG TABLE DINNER

We start the weekend with our celebratory long table dinner - this year a theatrical food fest with CELEBRITY CHEF JOHNNY HAMMAN, of John Joseph fame, with arrival drinks from Metanoia, and table wines from Joubert Tradauw.

The vibrant painting of local artist Michelle Berry, Fabulous Fowls in a Field of Flowers, will be auctioned during the course of the evening, as well as other exciting items.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS

Be sure to visit the festival market, pop into inspiring talks and workshops, explore diverse open gardens and visit the open artist studios on Saturday and Sunday. We’ve included hikes and runs for the energetic and cyclists can cycle the circle route on farms (start at the Karoo Art Hotel with indemnity form).

All Saturday talks take place at Môreson (entry included in Map Booklet price). Make a note to visit the vintage bioscope at The Karoo Art Hotel for a matinee show of Vet Vannie Land, a documentary on succulent theft.

On Saturday evening, conclude a happy day of activities with champagne and canapés at Die Langhuis with Gert van de Merwe and Jaco Janse van Rensburg. Afterwards saunter down the street to visit our first night open garden.

On Sunday, a leisurely brunch will be prepared by foodie Peta-Dawn de Jager on the deck of Kamala Karoo Sanctuary (09:30), or choose to attend free specialist talks in various gardens by experts and enthusiasts on subjects ranging from water wise gardening, to community food gardens and river restoration work.

WEEKEND TICKET

The full weekend ticket of R850 (early bird price till 23 October, then R950) includes the Gala Dinner, the Map Booklet with the programme and map to all the participating open gardens, art studios and galleries, as well as entrance to all the talks on Saturday. You may also opt to purchase separate tickets for the dinner at R750 per person (early bird price till 23 October, then R850), or just the map booklet at R150. You do need the map booklet to see where all the participating gardens are and to attend any or all of the talks.
