Step into a sea of colour at the Petals with Purpose: Dahlia Festival 2026, a spectacular flower festival in Magaliesberg, Gauteng, just a short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Celebrate 80 years of growing beauty, meaning and connection as the dahlia fields of Hadeco Bulbs open to the public for one exclusive weekend only: 28–29 March 2026. After the incredible success of 2025, we’re once again welcoming visitors to wander through thousands of blooming dahlias and experience one of the most beautiful flower festivals in Gauteng.
If you’re looking for things to do in Magaliesberg, this unique event offers the chance to picnic among spectacular flowering fields and enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by colour.

About an hour from the city, the blooming fields at Hadeco Bulbs are among the most beautiful flower fields near Johannesburg, making this a perfect day trip for families, garden lovers and photographers.
This isn’t just a flower festival — it’s a celebration of family legacy and a future blooming with possibility. The Petals with Purpose event is also one of the only dahlia festivals in South Africa, showcasing spectacular flowering fields and the joy of seasonal blooms.

Turning 80 in 2026? If you were born in 1946, your entry is on us (ID required).
Saturday 28 March: 8am – 3pm
Sunday 29 March: 8am – 2pm
Tickets are limited to ensure a relaxed and exclusive experience.
Special talks by gardening expert Melanie Walker and Hadeco Director Charles Barnhoorn.

Children’s Supervision: Children remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians. They must be under adult supervision at all times and are expected to respect the talks and experiences of other patrons during the festival.
Respect the Flowers and Landscape: Flowers are not to be handled or picked without a ‘Picking Ticket’. Our carefully cultivated landscape should be treated with care. Pre-cut flower stems will also be available for purchase. Please remain within the designated areas at all times.
Weather Advisory: Hadeco’s farm event is weather-dependent. While every effort is made to ensure an enjoyable experience, a decision will be made in the event of inclement weather. Event tickets are refundable.
Photography and Media: By entering the farm, visitors consent to their images being captured and shared on social media and other platforms by Hadeco or other visitors.
Charity Contribution: R30 from each R80 Petals with Purpose: Dahlia Festival ticket will be donated to charity.
