We are delighted to invite you to participate in the LepSoc Africa Annual Conference 2025. As part of our ongoing commitment to the study and conservation of Afrotropical butterflies and moths, this year’s event will spotlight the critical role Lepidoptera play in safeguarding biodiversity and guiding ecological restoration.
LepSoc Africa serves as a dynamic forum for researchers, citizen scientists, and conservationists dedicated to understanding and protecting Lepidoptera across Africa. The 2025 conference will feature a range of informative presentations showcasing the latest research on moths and butterflies, as well as exploring how this data can be applied to conserving and restoring threatened ecosystems.
Together, we aim to protect habitats rich in biodiversity from escalating ecological threats—through rigorous science, collaborative action, and public engagement. We are delighted to invite you to participate in the LepSoc Africa Annual Conference 2025. Day 1- Sat 25 Oct: Presentations & Discussions
Presentations on a wide range of topics related to Afrotropical Lepidoptera.
Annual General Meeting
Socialising & networking over a bring and share supper
Day 2 - Sun 26 Oct: Field trips or Bioblitzes
Invite your fellow nature lovers, including those interested in other taxa, and help document the diversity of a local hotspot that is not yet protected as a designated hotspot, to help secure the area's protection in the future.

These events are organized for anyone with an interest in butterflies, moths, ecosystems or conservation. All interested parties are welcome to attend, either in person at one of the several venues or online.

LepSoc 41st Annual Conference organisers invite interested and presenting authors to submit abstracts to be considered for inclusion into the program.
Authors can follow the guidelines on the link provided the annual conference via the link provided below.
Abstract submission deadline
Submission deadline is 1 October 2025
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Changes and Corrections
Once submitted, authors may use the link to edit, update, or submit a new abstract until the submission deadline.
Authors will receive an email confirmation of their abstract submission immediately after submission. If no confirmation is received within 24 hours, please check your spam folder. If still not received, please contact: [email protected]
Guidelines for the Submission of Abstracts
- Use the provided text fields on the Abstract Submission Portal.
- File uploads (e.g., documents, figures, images) are not permitted.
- During submission, authors will need to provide:
- Name and affiliation of the presenting author.
- Names of any co-authors and their affiliations (if different from presenting author)
- The abstract text (typed or copied and pasted).
- Contact information should only be provided for the presenting author. Ensure that the email address used matches the one the presenting author uses for conference registration.
Withdrawal
- To withdraw a submitted abstract, notify us as soon as possible at [email protected] Include the title and author of the abstract withdrawn.
- Withdrawals will be accepted even after the submission deadline.
