uNyana wolahleko – The Prodigal Son
(A Storytelling Experience)
A Story of Faith. A Journey of Healing.
A collaborative work between Vuyisa Sigonyela (iCiko) and Asakhe Cuntsulana, uNyana wolahleko is a poetic, musical retelling of the biblical Prodigal Son—rooted in isiXhosa storytelling, African sound, and the lived experiences of young Black men navigating manhood, modernity, and memory.
Through performance, narration, indigenous music and prayer, we follow Nkosana, a young man who leaves home with dreams but returns empty and broken. In his return, he finds not only forgiveness, but healing.
This is not just a performance.
It is a call to come home.
To yourself.
To your people.
To the sound of your soul remembering.
