For our dinner in The Dining Room on 30 August, we present a vegetable-led dinner: Vegan Small Plates!We will make (show off) some of our favourite dishes – Beetroot Carpaccio, Watercress Tarator, Butternut Pangrattato, Waterblommetjie, Gem & Pea Braise to name but a few.
We have always had a reverence for vegetables. Even before recent trends, we have held to our mantra: Begin with Vegetables!
For our dinner in August, we want our vegan and non-vegan diners to relax and enjoy some of our choicest meat-free offerings over several courses.
Forget starched white tablecloths, matchy-matchy crockery and tastefully subdued art. The décor in Woodstock’s The Dining Room is a trip. And it’s worth mentioning, because everything from the mismatched vintage China and retro-kitsch trinkets to the dramatic black feature wall and cornucopia of bird prints help tip you off that this will be no ordinary feast. More specifically, it’s a uniquely intimate experience hosted by owner Karen Dudley, who also just happens to be a legendary caterer and the owner of the famous hole-in-the-wall restaurant, The Kitchen, next door. Ranging from themes like Easter to Christmas in Winter and Spring, the feasts offer you the opportunity to not only sample Karen’s food, but also to experience her lesser-known talent for story-telling for yourself. Fair warning: Karen will probably spoil you for any and all other dinner parties in future. Good thing you know where to find her.

Itinerary
Guest arrive from 7pm. They will receive a welcome drink and also hand over their own drinks to be chilled and poured for the rest of the evening. They’ll sit down to a three course meal after which Karen will give a little welcome and say something about the dinner. The evening ends with dessert and coffee.
