Lunch with Dr. Galpin: What Your Gynae Might Not Tell You – An Integrative Approach to Menopause

Meet Dr. Galpin

Born in Zimbabwe and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, Dr. Galpin matriculated from Pietermaritzburg Girls' High in 1995. After a year with Scripture Union, she began a BSc before transitioning to Medicine at the University of Natal.

She completed her internship in Bloemfontein in 2004, followed by community service placements in Kimberley and Settlers Hospital in Grahamstown. In 2006, she obtained her Diploma in Obstetrics and continued her work at Settlers Hospital until 2007 before moving into the state clinic system.

In 2018, Dr. Galpin transitioned into private practice and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Coastal Independent Practitioners Association (Eastern Cape).

Her approach focuses on addressing the root causes of health challenges, not just managing symptoms. She strongly believes in the power of collaboration among healthcare practitioners to provide truly integrative care.

Dr. Galpin’s interest in hormones is deeply personal and twofold. After losing her mother to dementia at the age of 73, she became committed to understanding the long-term impact of stress, trauma, and hormonal imbalance on the body. Now, as she navigates her own perimenopausal journey alongside many of her friends, she is passionate about uncovering the vital role hormones play in women’s overall health—especially in a world where women's health has long been overlooked.

Dr. Galpin is also a proud wife and mother of three, living in the tranquil community of Bushman’s River.
