SUNDAY 11 MAY 2025 AT 15:00
REBECA OMORDIA, who is half Romanian and half Nigerian, has been hailed as a “classical music game-changer’ and as a ‘pioneer’. Julian Lloyd Webber has described her mixed heritage as ‘a powerful combination’ and she has spent the last decade specialising in, and pioneering , repertoire by African composers who work in the classical tradition. She has been recording compositions by this continent’s most influential past and present composers, and in 2019 she launched the first ever African Concert Series which is now resident in London’s iconic Wigmore Hall. Her programme will feature both European Impressionism and African Pianism, introducing the wealth of music (Nigerian, Moroccan, Ethiopian, Algerian and South African) from our own continent..
