AWM Trailblazer Mentorship Walk

The African Women’s Movement (AWM) is excited to present the Trailblazer Mentorship Walk, featuring Akhona Qengqe, General Manager of KFC Africa, as our Keynote Speaker. She will deliver a keynote address on “The Role of Men as Allies in Achieving Gender Parity.”

This event has a dual purpose:

It serves as the soft launch of EquiVox – Men as Allies, a new arm of AWM that champions men’s active involvement in supporting gender equality. EquiVox, short for Equality Voices aims to foster collaboration between women and men, empowering both genders to Thrive in a world built on equality and mutual respect.

Additionally, this event will raise awareness for the Thandulwazi Maths & Science Academy, an educational initiative founded in 2005 at St Stithians College. Thandulwazi’s mission is to provide access to quality education, focusing on core gateway subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Accounting, and English for learners from disadvantaged communities. Through various intervention programmes, Thandulwazi enhances the teaching and learning of these subjects for Grade 9 to 12 learners, provides professional development for teachers, trains new intern-teachers, and awards academic scholarships to talented students.
