Taming of the Shrew

Paul Spence directs this slightly abridged Shakespearian comedy classic with a stellar cast of Midlands actors. Staring Axl Forder, Steph Smit and Tim Redpath, and also featuring Upstager's regulars Maryke Jonsson and Will le Cordeur, this hilarious love story should be a treat for the whole family.

The story is legendary, and has been adapted many times over by Hollywood. "Kiss Me Kate" and "Ten Things I Hate About You" are two of the best know film version of the play, but the story always remains the same. Lucentio loves Bianca but cannot court her until her shrewish older sister Katherina marries. The eccentric Petruccio marries the reluctant Katherina and uses a number of tactics to render her an obedient wife. Thankfully, Katherina does not make his job easy.
