Nestled between Heidelberg and Swellendam lies a magical haven where the harmony of music and the tranquility of nature intertwine. Get ready to immerse yourself in the rhythm of music, the beauty of nature, and the charm of country living. This year, we're proud to embrace diversity in all its forms. Join us as we bring together a symphony of sounds, from the elegance of classical melodies to the pulsating beats of African percussion. Our stage will be a melting pot of genres, showcasing the richness of musical expression and celebrating diversity as the spice of life.
The event is organised by well-known musician and conductor, Richard Cock, and a host of partners (including the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy).

The festival is more than just music; it's an invitation to discover the marvels of nature that envelop us. Delight in farm-to-table delights from Skeiding Guest Farm, paired with exceptional wines from Olivedale, Sijnn, Lost Boy and Greenlands Farm. Immerse yourself in captivating nature talks led by experts who will unveil the mysteries of the Grootvadersbosch Valley's rich natural history. From the mesmerizing freshwater species to the lush forest and delicate fynbos, prepare to be enchanted by the breathtaking biodiversity that defines this region. This is the eight annual Silver Mountain Music Festival.
The festival has its own Youth Foundation to enhance opportunities for rural youth. Linked to youth day, the festival includes workshops by visiting artists, educational and recreational activities in rural schools.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink with the Scullery Quintet, Greenlands Farm Table
The Scullery Quintet offers an exhilarating lineup of music, blending Classical, Jazz, South African, and popular genres with a unique twist. Their program includes reworked pieces by renowned composers like Bach, Bill Evans, Dvorak, Hugh Masekela, Piazzolla, Beethoven, and Kate Bush, among others. The ensemble delivers their repertoire in a down-to-earth yet enlightening style, celebrating and paying homage to an eclectic mix of melodies and improvised performances. Their approach can be described as a euphonious celebration of musical diversity, encapsulating "everything but the kitchen sink!" Greenlands Farm Table embodies the spirit of freshness and locality, and we couldn't be more thrilled to bring our music to this extraordinary space. Join us as we celebrate the essence of farm-to-table living, amidst the rustic charm of Greenlands Farm. Includes fresh soup and bread with a glass of locally produced wine Adults, R350.
A Celebration of Aquatic Diversity, Karoo Art Hotel, Barrydale
Don’t miss a captivating morning as we shine a spotlight on the incredible diversity of aquatic life. Led by leading freshwater experts, including Albert Chakona, Martine Jordaan, Jeremy Shelton, and Christian Fry, we'll embark on a journey to uncover the wonders of our rivers. This event is made possible by the support of a new project initiated by the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy, with funding from the IUCN. The project aims to raise awareness about the threats facing the critically endangered Tradouw Redfin. Your participation in this event will contribute to furthering the objectives of this crucial conservation effort. So mark your calendars and join us in Barrydale for a morning of exploration and education. Adults, R100. Children under 14, R50 (under 5 free).
Diversity is the Spice of Life, Richard Cock and Friends in a Farm Shed, Strawberry Hill Farm
The Concert in the Shed at Strawberry Hill Farm is always a great highlight of the Silver Mountain Music Festival. Following the theme of diversity, we will have everything from a classical violinist, playing music by Fritz Kreisler, to sultry jazz from Monique Hellenberg. Monique is one of South Africa’s best young singers, to some harmonic and eclectic vocal loops with Josh Loxton on guitar and the odd bit of percussion, to the fabulous Silver Mountain Marimba players, directed by Junayne Baatjies. This concert is an incredible energizer which audiences have always loved, and Richard Cock will lead the orchestra in tributes to Henry Mancini who was born 100 years ago and wrote such favourites as Baby Elephant Walk and The Pink Panther. The afternoon includes a light meal provided by Skeiding Guest house. Come and join us and celebrate the diversity of music at its best. Adults R370. Children R300 .
What's in a Name with Richard Cock, Strawberry Hill Farm
“My name” has always presented challenges and in a wide-ranging informal chat, Richard Cock explores the dangers inherent in his name and has some amusing anecdotes concerning it. Starting with one of his earliest memories – his mother scolding a neighbour who referred to him as Dick! He has also, over the years, collected an amazing series of misprints in programmes which he will share. Adults only! Adults R150.
Celebrating Birds and Species Diversity in the Fynbos Biome, Swellendam Schuur, 2 Drostdy St Swellendam
Join us for an exploration of the breathtaking diversity that thrives within this remarkable ecosystem. Beyond its renowned botanical richness, the fynbos region is home to an extraordinary array of creatures, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. From the diminutive Micro Frog to the resplendent Orange-breasted Sunbird. Prepare to be captivated by the fascinating inhabitants of this biodiverse paradise. Leading us on this journey of discovery are Suretha and Cliff Dorse, authors of the Struik Nature guide to fynbos fauna and Nick Newman, author of the revised edition of the incredible Newman's Birds by Colour. Celebrate the Classics with Emmanuel Bach, Swellendam
Join us for the best of classical choice, music by Mozart and Schubert. Prize winning violinist Emmauel Bach plays Mozart’s famous Violin Concerto no 5, “The Turkish”, and the orchestra rounds off the programme with Symphony no 5 by Schubert – a work full of joy and cheerful melodies. Both composers were prolific masters of their trade and both died tragically young, but they have left us with incomparable works of art which we celebrate in this concert. Adults R200.
Percussion Explosion, Swellendam
‘Amani ya ndani’ is a Swahili phrase meaning ‘inner peace’, and this description is on the mark when it comes to the breathtaking performances by the two talented multi-instrumentalists: Volley Nchabeleng and Micca Manganye. Join us on a journey of African sounds played on various indigenous musical instruments collected from around the continent, and let the healing sounds of the marimba, mbira, lekope and others serenade you in a beautiful embrace of nature through music. Duo Recital with Emmanuel Bach and Jenny Stern, NGK Hall, Swellendam

From captivating audiences across the UK, Europe, and the USA to participating in masterclasses with luminaries such as Shlomo Mintz, Maxim Vengerov, and Pierre Amoyal.
