Zhivago Quartet, The Free live at Intravinous

The Free is a group of young talented Capetonian musicians with a wealth of experience in

different musical genres.

On Drums :Byron Willenberg was part of the Artscape Youth Jazz Band in the 2000’s studied under famed drummers

Denver Furness at the Jazz Workshop and practicing his craft for 20 years.

On Bass: Eugene Ackerman

Bassist and Producer from the Cape Flats. He was part of the SAMA nominated Band,

Blackcurrant, Sonik Citizen and Cape Tone with Mark Fransman, versatility is at the very core

of his approach.

Active on the music scene in and around Cape Town with performances at the following

Competing in the UNISA 7th National Piano Competition

Part of the All Star band 2019

Zhivago Hagan

Professional musician and music teacher with experience gained at Stellenbosch University

and the University of Cape Town through the guidance of Dan Shout and Shannon Mowday.

Performed with varies projects/groups Stellenbosch University Jazz Band, UCT Big Band,

Shen Winberg Band. Participated in the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival 2004-

2006. In 2016 formed part of a theatre production Kaapse Jol produced by Alistair Izobell.

Performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2018 and currently part of the Delft

Big Band and MH Big Band
