About

John Hassan’s Quartet showcases their cool Afro Latin rhythms at Intravinous Wine Lounge and Bar.

The Hassan’adas band was formed in 2010 with John as the leader on percussion, vocals and acoustic guitar, Trevino Isaacs on keyboards, Nathan Carolus on lead guitar, Lucas Khumalo on bass and Keegan Williams on drums.

The musical focus of this project is to blend original African and Latin rhythms and sounds that people can listen and dance to.

Hassan is a sought-after percussionist, composer, arranger and producer who has been crafting his skills for over 20 years. He has featured on over 100 albums, performed on tours worldwide, and engaged in a long list of collaborations with local and international artists.

He has performed with Miriam Makeba, Stimela, Hugh Masekela, the late Brenda Fassie, Manu Dibango, Papa Wemba, Chucho Valdez, the late Moses Molelekwa, Simply Red, Toto, Regina Carter, Carl Anderson, Sibongile Khumalo, Loading Zone and Jimmy Dludlu.

Hassan’adas is known for their melting pot of beautiful African sounds from around the world. “I’m influenced by creative, artistic and open-minded artists and music from all around the world. It’s really diverse, so I myself always keep an open mind when listening to and also creating music,” says Hassan.

"The FMR jazz concert series is great, and the Kronendal Music Academy is doing impressive work with the young people of Hour Bay. The musicians in this concert - young and older - were outstanding. Great vibe."

"Hope we can hear more live Maskandi music again. Seems like there is so much to explore with this music. Last three songs from their latest album were the best. Keep it up!"
