ABOUT
SOUTH AFRICA PREMIERE FILM SCREENING (CAPE TOWN)
Poison-Free Peninsula, a people powered movement for a Poison-Free Cape Peninsula, brings you:-
Children Of The Vine. A timely premiere in South Africa of this eye-opening investigation into the controversial herbicide Roundup (containing glyphosate) and its potential impact on public health.
A network of businesses, organisations, professionals and civil society groups are demanding the urgent updating of South Africa’s legislation which, up until now, has seen very poor regulation of pesticides.
Glyphosate formulations are just one of many herbicides/pesticides used in South Africa. Some of these have been banned in other countries but are still allowed for sale and use here, including glyphosate.
In this film, from America’s heartland in Lone Jack, Missouri to Bakersfield, California, award winning filmmaker Brian Lilla speaks with both farmers who depend on Roundup and those who are paying the ultimate price for spraying it.
To end, Children Of The Vine highlights more sustainable farming practices that heal soil health, empower communities to shift away from toxic farming and advocate for organic land care practices.
