In celebration of our jazz heritage, the JPO, in collaboration with the ZAR Jazz Orchestra led by celebrated South African trumpeter, conductor and SAMA Award winner Marcus Wyatt, will be presenting the JPO Symphonic Jazz concert on Thursday 21 September.
Taken from the Jazz Song Book, a lot of the music on the programme will be drawn from legendary South African musicians and includes some of South Africa’s best-loved jazz songs. This songbook was performed as part of the 2022 BBC Proms at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, with the Grammy award winning Metropole Orkest. The concert will expose the beauty and power of this music to a South African audience for the first time.
