Sat Sep 9, 19:00 - Sat Sep 9, 22:00

Endler Concert Hall

ABOUT

HearUS is an initiative aligned with the Stellenbosch University Cochlear Implant Unit, which provides financial support to those with serious hearing challenges, hailing from financially compromised backgrounds, to obtain and maintain cochlear implants and assists in realizing their full potential in the 'world of hearing'.

The Heydeburg Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Reghardt Kühn and Leonard Heydenrych, will be headlining this performance and will be joined by the Paarl Girls' High School Choir (cond. Chester Meyer) as well as various celebrated soloists, including Fleur-du-Cap winner, baritone Conroy Scott, soprano Karen de Goede, flautist Leonard Heydenrych, harpist Kobie du Plessis, as well as the sensational 16-year-old pianist Mike Wang, winner of the 2022 National Youth Music Competition, in a programme of favourite works from the classical repertoire.

This event serves also as the official launch of the Stellenbosch Youth Orchestra, an orchestral training programme providing secondary school learners with the opportunity to participate in large musical ensemble performance, bolstering their musical literacy skills and providing invaluable vocational training. The SYO, conducted by Reghardt Kühn, will provide a curtain-raiser performance at this celebratory event.
