The Mbuso Khoza Institute for Culture in partnership with Mlogo Hills Garden presents An Evening with HRH Princess Magogo.
This is a spiritual journey, refiguring the musical and lyrical genius of Her Royal Highness Princess Magogo kaDinuzulu, a talented ugubhu musician, composer and phenomenal poet. Be part of an exciting evening, traversing Princess Magogo’s musical prowess and her intent expressions of love against the remnants of war. This live performance delves deep into the eclectic adventures of the Princess's stories of love against the social responsibilities of her position as a member of the Zulu royal family.
The show takes place on 26 August 2023, at the Mlogo Hills Garden, in Pongola.
LINEUP
With the express purpose of demonstrating the relevance of the ancient Amahubo traditions on today’s artistic fibre, the Mbuso Khoza Institute for Culture is proud to bring to Pongola its founder, Mbuso Khoza. Khoza is an acclaimed international jazz musician, actor and amahubo icon who has been a champion in reawakening the love of amahubo in South Africa, finding them a home in today’s television and entertainment spaces.
He brings with him Nomangungu, a vocalist, performing poet, playwright and heritage speaker who is equally the CEO of the Ijadu Le Afrika Centre for Arts and Heritage, the institute's applied ethnomusicology centre that teaches youngsters amahubo and indigenous instruments. .Also sharing the stage is Anella Ngwenya, a vocalist, composer, speaker and CEO of the Mbuso Khoza Institute. Together, the trio is leading and innovating the amahubo movement in Africa.

ABOUT THE MBUSO KHOZA INSTITUTE FOR CULTURE
The Mbuso Khoza Institute for Culture is an NPC that safeguards intangible and tangible heritage. Amongst the major projects that it has successfully curated is the battle of Isandlwana Lecture (The Musical) which has been turned into a full stage production hosted by The State Theatre in Pretoria; IHUBO that was staged at The Playhouse Company in Durban; Amahubo symposium in partnership with the Wits School of Art, Isandlwana Walk 2022 and 2023, King Dinuzulu Lecture, and two instalments of iJadu Le Afrika Festival 2022 and 2023 at the Bat Centre.
The institute is currently involved in a fundraiser programme, to assist in the building of a physical home for amahubo education and training programme and all the institute's work.
