ÎLE by Sophie Joans, directed by Rob Van Vuuren, follows the story of a young girl who returns to her ancestral home, the Island of Mauritius, to explore her maternal roots and get away from her mother. After winning a Gold Standard Bank Ovation Award at it's debut at the National Arts Festival 2022, ÎLE went on to do a national and international tour. The show picked up several other awards and nominations, including: Best Script at BiteSize Fest in London, and nominations for the prestigious Filipa Bragança Award for Best Female Solo Performer at the EdFringe (one of 5 out of 3500 productions!), Best Actress at Woordfees 2022, Fleur de Cap for Best Solo Performance 2022.
