Shibari For Beginners
Sat Jul 8, 15:00 - Sat Jul 29, 18:00
Cape Town (To Be Confirmed Upon Payment for Attendance)
ABOUT
Shibari is an ancient form of artistic Japanese rope bondage.
It can be a very artistic expression, or a powerful embodiment practice.
Shibari can be a wonderful tool for expression, or to bring playfulness into your life!
It is also a fun way to explore your relationship, set boundaries, become more firm with your wants and needs, and learning to fully express yourself. It's also just a creative expression or outlet.
This workshop is for absolute beginners! It is essential to get proper foundational tools as opposed to attending rope jams where there is no facilitation and proper education around rope.
Iris-Moon will guide you in discovering the basic techniques and aesthetics for this intimate form of rope play. After this series of workshops you will know how to tie basic patterns (traditional and non traditional) with attention on interaction, presence, technique & aesthetic.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A playful and informative weekly workshop (each week for a month) to learn the ropes of Shibari.
A non judgemental, safe and open space for expression and connection.
An interactive space aimed at getting you to think out side the box with rope tying.
A space where you can tap into your body and be comfortable in your skin.
A space to explore your own creativity and healing abilities.
Up-skilling yourself with this erotic / sensual art form.
This erotic spiritual art is not only about creating intricate rope designs but also about stimulating ki energy flow through the knot placements onto the canvas of the human body.
This series of workshops is all about fundamentals, but it also encourages the individual to tap into their own creative expression.
In this workshop, you will learn :
WEEK 1
- A bit about the origins of Shibari
- Consent and Negotiations for rope tying
- Rope Safety
- How to join rope
- Single Column Tie
- Double Column Tie
WEEK 2
- With our fundamentals covered, we will move onto a traditional tie - FUTOMOMO
- This traditional tie includes the leg and can evolve into pretty much anything
- This tie is about binding the ankle tightly to the thigh and distribute the force of the tie across the leg
- You will play an interactive game towards the end of the class aimed at sparking creative expression
- (So when you leave this experience, you'll feel confident in your own technique! Your own style!)
WEEK 3
- We explore the creating of a CHEST HARNESS
- Variations of the Chest Harness
- Chest Harnesses are fun, and can be a foundational tie to suspend
- Chest Harnesses can be worn as an outfit too ;)
- You will play an interactive game, created for you to tap into your creativity and flow with rope in your own unique way
WEEK 4
- We learn the HISHI KARADA (Traditional Japanese "Diamond Harness")
