AURIOL HAYS
Authentic and sincere are but a few words that best describe Auriol Hays’ musicality. Blessed with a powerful, sultry thick-as-molasses voice, the SAMA and Mbokdo Women in Jazz nominated songwriter’s compositions have been featured on many TV shows in South Africa and international movies.
Ms Hays is no mere jazz singer. She is a musical storyteller, a sonorous shaman, a songwriter above all else whose musical and emotive range is influenced by a plethora of sounds. And all her music rendered is done so in a voice entirely and completely her own. She is a prolific songwriter and is working towards her next musical offering.
“She has the knack to astound, and quite often her sound defies categorization” – Zakes Mda
MAYA SPECTOR
Vocalist & songwriter Maya Spector‘s voice has been described as pure honey, with darkness and sweetness that tells her stories convincingly. Her artistic roots derive from the worlds of Jazz and Soul music. As a global citizen Maya is steeped in cultural attributes of communities and audiences in the far East, the USA, and South Africa.
Since graduating in 2001 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, specialising in Jazz Performance and Music Education, Maya has left her mark as a soloist in musical theatre and in multiple classic musicals, original solo works and band concerts ranging from classical to jazz.
- One thing is for certain, Maya Spector "does not live for music, she is alive because of it!"
