The ITC January 2023 Auditing Preparation Programme is a series of online classes that will be held from 09 January 2023 to 20 January 2023 that is specifically designed to help candidates successfully prepare for auditing component of SAICA's Initial Test of Competence that will be written in January 2023.


What will be covered in this class?

This class will place specific focus on the preliminary engagement activities stage of the audit process, and will take a detailed look at the theory relating to the following aspects:

  • Audit Evidence
  • Audit Evidence - Additional Considerations for Specific Items 
  • External Confirmations
  • Initial Engagements - Opening Balances
  • Continuing Engagements - Opening Balances
  • Analytical Procedures 
  • Audit Sampling and Other Means of Testing
  • Audit of Accounting Estimates


Focus will also be placed on practical learning, which will include the following:

  • discussing the possible types of questions relating to this part of the audit process that can be asked as well as how to answer them;
  • how to optimize reading time;
  • time management;
  • examination technique; and
  • step=by-step completion of past examination questions.


Who should attend this class/series of classes?

All candidates (including both first-time and repeat candidates) who will be sitting for the SAICA Initial Test of Competence (ITC) that will be written in January 2023 who would like additional support on preparing for the auditing component of the examination should attend this class/series of classes.


Why should I attend this class/series of classes?

The ITC January 2023 Auditing Preparation Programme is specifically designed to prepare the first-time and repeat candidates adequately prepare for the auditing component of SAICA's Initial Test of Competence that will be written in January 2023.


Prepared and presented by Masoom Alli CA(SA), a qualified chartered accountant as well as a lecturer at the University of South Africa (UNISA), students will receive detailed guidance and support in their examination preparation.


Each class will incorporate the following two components to ensure that candidates are prepared comprehensively and adequately:

  • a theoretical component that will cover revision of technical knowledge, and
  • a practical component that will cover the application of technical knowledge in the examination, time management and examination technique.

Classes will be carried out fully online via Microsoft Teams.
