About
Masoom Alli is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA), Lecturer, IFRS and GRAP Specialist, Learning and Development Professional, and a Technical Accounting and Training Specialist He possesses a strong background in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and is the author of several academic publications.
Being a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and having exposure to both the public as well as private sector, Masoom is a technical expert in both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP) which provides him with a strong, credible foundation on which to share financial knowledge.
In addition to possessing technical knowledge and competence, Masoom has extensive practical knowledge having performed a number of financial and technical reviews of financial statements of government entities in the public sector as well as organisations operating across a wide range of industry sectors in the private sector. This underlines Masoom’s skills, competence and experience as a technical accounting specialist and as an overall professional.
Professionally, Masoom has worked for a number of audit firms serving in assurance, advisory, technical accounting, corporate training as well as learning and development roles. Having served as a manager in the accounting and financial advisory division of Deloitte South Africa, Masoom has significant exposure to the fields of leadership and managerial skills, risk management, financial management, financial reporting as well as financial statement analysis.
In addition to being a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA), Masoom is currently pursuing a Masters in Accountancy at the University of the Witwatersrand, further ensuring that he is always up to date with the latest accounting pronouncements, developments and trends. This also highlights his commitment to continuous learning and development.
Masoom is also a professional trainer, business consultant and is currently a management accounting lecturer at the University of South Africa. This combination of practical exposure has contributed to him having a degree of flexibility in a professional that is not easy to replicate, particularly in a knowledge-sharing environment.
His professional and technical experience extends to the publication of numerous publications orientated around IFRS as well as the creation of multiple videos, training courses and eLearning courses focused on subjects such as accounting, finance, and IFRS. These further underscore Masoom’s technical ability and competence in an academic, learning and development context.
