Geocaching In Kloofendal

Experience the joy of finding and logging your first geocache! Join me for an introduction to Geocaching and a walk to find some of the hidden treasures (geocaches) in Kloofendal. Learn to identify and find hidden caches by using the geocaching maps and compass on the c:geo app on your Smartphone. 

During the walk I will share some tips on what to look for at a cache site (ground zero) to spot the cache and how to get support when you are stuck. I will explain the different cache types, terrain ratings and cache sizes and show you how to log a cache find. I will share some tips on creating and publishing your own caches. You will have the opportunity to solve a cache puzzle to find the coordinates to a geocache. 

Existing cachers are welcome to join the walk and enjoy the opportunity to share your caching stories and experience with the group and to find new caches. 

Please wear good walking shoes, bring some water, a hat and a pen (the most important tool for geocaching). To prepare for the event, you can visit www.geocaching.com to create your caching username and then download the c:geo app on your Smartphone. I will also explain adventure lab caches and you can visit https://labs.geocaching.com for more information on adventure lab caches.
