ABOUT

The SSFSA festival has grown into Africa’s largest youth drama event that focuses solely on Shakespeare. Since 2009, SSFSA has showcased 518 Shakespeare plays across South Africa, working with 10866 learners from 597 schools. It has built the capacity of 764 teachers as drama and performance arts directors, who participated across the Western Cape, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Eastern Cape. It is a novel way for young people to explore their dramatic potential in a fun, developmental way and in a non-competitive environment. The event also promotes life skills, spotlighting literacy, classic literature and the performing arts.
